The Trials & Test Group at AWE is currently looking for an Engineer with an electrical or electronics background to join their mixed discipline team. The selected individual will be responsible for operating and maintaining a high voltage pulsed power system. This system includes 14 Capacitor Bank Modules that amplify the laser to its 1-petawatt output.

This role is especially suitable for those interested in fault diagnosis and design improvements of high voltage and mechatronic systems. While knowledge of Pulsed Power is not a prerequisite, as full training will be provided, familiarity with High Voltage systems would be advantageous.

The role also involves contributing to the production and delivery of technical reports and presentations, as well as the delivery of projects from conception to realization. The engineer will also be tasked with developing new methods of working and supporting the progress of designs through the product lifecycle.

To be considered for this role, candidates should ideally have an HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline or proven experience in a similar environment. Strong communication skills are essential, as well as a willingness and ability to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
